One of the very first LPs I ever saw & heard at home was gifted to my Grandpa by his best friend. Opened it today & the smell of fading paper instantly took me back to childhood. That voice is immortal. Thank you for the music #AmeenSayani pic.twitter.com/N7NQkdCKjH

Amitabh has told in many interviews that in the initial days of his career, he wanted to give an interview on the radio, but Ameen had refused to take his audition. According to Amitabh, if Ameen had taken his audition, he too could have been a famous broadcaster today. This statement of Big B went viral and along with it, this story also went viral. However, this is a one-sided truth. The whole story was told by Ameen Sayani in an interview given to Filmfare.
Ameen Sayani's other side of the story
Ameen Sayani had said that when Amitabh Bachchan revealed this, he was also surprised as to when this happened. Ameen had said- I was very impressed by his performance and voice in the film 'Anand'. I decided to promote his film. But then reminded myself that there is no need to be so stupid. This guy will be a hit anyway. In those days, Amitabh Bachchan used to date Jaya Bhaduri.
Ameen had said that once Amitabh and Jaya along with Gulzar Sahab had come to Rishikesh to record a program with him. 15 years later, when Amitabh Bachchan was invited as the chief guest at the Radio and Television Advertising Practitioners Association (RAPA) awards show, in his speech he talked about auditioning for radio and getting rejected there.

'My clients would have been with them'
Ameen told me that after this award show, I talked to my wife Rama (who used to work in Radio Ceylon) and asked who Amitabh was talking about. At that time it was only our company and I don't remember when I met Amitabh. He told me that there was a man who had come to meet me. Then I remembered that the secretary had told me that a man had come, who was telling his name as Amitabh Bachchan. Then I told him to make an appointment. When he came the second time, he was still without an appointment. I apologized saying that I didn't have time.

Ameen said that whatever happened, happened for the good. I liked Amitabh's voice. If I had selected them and given them the work, my clients would have gone to them and I would have been on the road. Then the world also does not get the 'great hero of the century'.
