Chhaava Controversy Arised

The film Chhaava, based on Maratha warrior-king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has started facing opposition. Former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati on Friday raised objections to some scenes shown in the film's trailer and said that the upcoming historical film Chhaava based on Sambhaji Maharaj should be shown to historians before its release to ensure accuracy.

Objection over Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna's dance in the film Chhaava

The former MP's comments, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, came amid protests from some sections who objected to the dance of actors Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna in the film, in which Vicky Kaushal plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika plays Maharani Yesubai.

Sambhajiraje said that it is commendable that the film highlights the life and heroic reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Director Laxman Utekar and his team showed me the film trailer. I told them I would like to see the entire film before its release. I also offered to connect with them.

He further said that historians will be asked to remove the inaccuracies to ensure that this important story is presented authentically to audiences worldwide.

Protest held at Pune's historic Lal Mahal

Earlier in the day, some Maratha organizations protested at Pune's historic Lal Mahal. One of the protesters said that they object to the dance sequence in which Sambhaji Maharaj and Rani Yesubai are shown dancing after the coronation.
