Indian playback singer Uma Ramanan has passed away. She is mainly a Tamil singer. Singer Uma Ramanan death happened on Wednesday, May 1. Uma Ramanan age is 69 years old. The singer, who has sung many memorable songs in Tamil cinema, is survived by her singer-husband AV Ramanan, and their son Vignesh Ramanan. The reason behind the singer's death is still unknown. Uma Ramanan was a trained classical singer. In the past 35 years, she sang in more than 6,000 concerts. When Uma met her husband and composer AV Ramanan, she started collaborating with him for his concerts. Although Uma sang many songs for her husband, it was her association with Ilaiyaraaja that brought her fame.

Got recognition from this song

Uma Ramanan got recognition from the song 'Poongathaave Thal Thiravai' which is from the Tamil film 'Nizhalgal'. This gave her career a boost and she worked with Ilaiyaraaja in more than 100 songs. Apart from Ilaiyaraaja, she also sang for composers like  Vidyasagar, Mani Sharma, and Deva. Uma Ramanan's sang her last song was 'Kannum Kannumthaan Kalandachu' for Vijay's film 'Thirupachi'. The song she sang was composed by Mani Sharma with Harish Raghavendra and Premji Amren.

Some of her famous songs in collaboration with Ilaiyaraaja include 'Bhoopalam Isaikkam' from 'Thooral Ninnu Pochchu', 'Aanandha Ragam' from the movie 'Panneer Pushpangal', 'Kanmani Nee Vaara' from the film 'Thendrel Ennai Thodu', 'Pon Mane' from the movie 'Oru Kaidhiyin Dairy' ', 'Agaya Vennilave' from 'Arangetra Velai', 'Sri Ranga Ranganathanin' from 'Mahanadi' and others. She made her debut as a singer in 1977 with a song from 'Shri Krishna Leela'. She sang it with her husband AV Ramanan.
