The television series is based on the story of Bondita, an 8-year-old girl who married an elderly man in the days before independence and died after some time of marriage. Pravisht Mishra plays Anirudh, the male lead, and has returned from London after completing her studies in the serial. To shield Bondita from the Sati custom, he marries her.
